A new family attraction in Devon .This is your opportunity to take a one hour Ducks-n-Drake tour, riding on one of these famous machines.
The Ducks-n-Drake tour starts (and ends) at the Ducks-n-Drake Aquaport right next to the Guildhall. As you walk along Royal Parade or come down to the junction with Amarda Way, right in the heart of the City Centre, you will see your DUKW waiting for you. If you haven’t already bought your ticket on-line or over the telephone, you can buy your ticket from the Ducks-n-Drake booth – the bright yellow Dr-Who-like box at the entrance to the car park. If you have made an advance booking for this Devon family attraction, you can collect your ticket from the touch screen ticket dispenser at the yellow booth.
As you walk over to admire the 10 tonne yellow machine, you can marvel at the sturdy hull supported by six wheels all driven by a powerful engine under the front deck (or is it the bonnet!). At the rear of the machine you can just see the water jet drive poking out between the set of entrance steps leading up to the entry platform which is the way into the central gangway. Your seat will be one of 28 located as 24 on the lower main deck, or 4 on the higher rear deck.
At the front of the machine is the cockpit. Behind the wheel of this left hand drive vehicle sits the driver and captain. This same person steers you through the streets of Plymouth and navigates round the waters of the Sound.
To the captain’s right sits the first mate. He will also be your guide on your journey of Plymouth. You may notice that he bears a striking resemblance to Sir Francis Drake himself!
